I just read an excellent social media case study from REI in Fast Company. REI really gets it. Note that a lot of what they’re doing – custom video responses, for example – are in some ways EASIER to do for you, the small business owner. Small businesses don’t have as many hoops (or approvals) to jump through and can be real-time responsive.

But Sherean, you say, I’m too busy! And yes, that is a problem. Fortunately, there are lots of tools out there to make it easier for you (HootSuite, custom alerts from Google, mobile apps) and you’d be surprised how much you can do from your phone.
