The Snuggie’s a Success?

My husband and I mock this product every time we see the commercial. I joke that the guy looks like a monk and that the sleeves are surely fire hazards. Chris is thinking of getting me one for my birthday. So imagine my surprise when I learned that Snuggies are flying off the shelves. Four million sold and a waiting list for more. Normally, I’d comment on their marketing strategy, or how their success reflects current trends, but today, I have only one word: huh?

Update: one of my Twitter buddies just told me she wears her robe backwards and ta-da! Instant Snuggie. Hilarious!

Christian and I laugh at this commercial all the time, too. We especially love the part when they show the family at the game and try to say that one size fits all. The little kid is lost in a Snuggie ocean. And, I can really see my 14 and 19 year old daughters using a Snuggie. They would look soooo cool. (insert sarcasm here)

I personally LOVE blankets and have more than my fair share. I don’t have any problem talking on the phone while using a blanket. I must be very skilled indeed!

I’d be curious where they are selling regionally. It’s a cold winter up north – maybe people are desperate.

“huh?” is an appropriate response. I always laugh at this commercial, but my 8-year old seems to think this thing is the greatest invention since sliced bread and the wheel and urges me to order every time it comes on. Why can’t we just use blankets, people? What about the blankets???!!!

it’s too bad the Snuggie has that drafty, hospital gown thing going for it… it would be better if it wrapped around all the way
